Title: October Ace - Towards Focus Caption: This shot shows two things. For starters you can see that the Ace at the left is out of focus but the ones towards the right are in focus. This is because I happen to throw it a little away from the lens rather than perpendicular to it. The second thing that this shot shows is the impact of the flash off to the left putting more light on the card as it was closer to the flash. The reason for the flash being off to the side (as well as the ambient light in the 2nd curtain shots) was to light the subject while not lighting the black backdrop. Although it is black it still reflects some light and I had to be careful not to minimize light hitting it during the shot. To help with this I increased the distance as much as possible between the subject and the backdrop. I was limited by the width of my backdrop. |
